Tanzania Society – BTS- welcomed newly appointed Tanzanian High Commissioner Dr
Asha Rose Migiro and her British counterpart heading for Dar es Salaam, Ms
Sarah Cooke. Outgoing British Ambassador
Dianna Melrose and her predecessor, Mr Philip Parham were invited, too.

Hosting the two hour ceremony at London’s School of
African and Oriental Studies (SOAS), was
Birmingham University lecturer, Dr Andrew Coulson , who on a behalf of BTS
highlighted the fact that it was a positive day for women in high, respected,
government and diplomatic positions.
Speaking briefly, Dr Asha-
Rose Migiro, who has just been here for two weeks, said she is looking forward
to meeting people and interact with our Tanzanian friends and business partners
in the United Kingdom.
Ambassador Cooke expressed
her excitement of going to Tanzania and already managed few Swahili words.
Also present was the
Tanzanian Trade Centre Director at the High Commission, Mr Yusuf Kashangwa.
London based British
Tanzania Society whose members from the two nations, hail from a wide section
of fields and professions has been very actively inviting speakers and guests
from high profile positions in Tanzania. These include Professor Issa Shivji (April
2016), former Civic Front leader, Professor Ibrahim Lipumba (December 2015) and
Cabinet Minister Dr. Harrison Mwakyembe (November 2012), to name a few.
